Chris is a quiet, shy kid from the Bronx, New York, with a big voice. Chris impressed Johnny Wright at the New York audition with his unusual, smoky quality sound -- earning a trip to Miami. But now, Chris is faced with the challenge of transforming his shy persona into someone who has charisma and the "it" factor needed to become a member of Menudo. Will Chris be able to grow into his voice in time?

Age 17 - Alto Trujilo, Puerto Rico
17 year old Emmanuel Velez Pagan (from Alto Trujilo) is Puerto Rican and proud. Ask him what's different about him from the rest of the group and he jokes, "I'm the one with the accent!" Like others, he's living a dream right now, one that started when he saw another famous "boy band" on TV: "The reason that I'm singing right now is *NSYNC," he says. "They're my idols. I just love their concerts and performances. When I saw them, that's what inspired me to follow this career."

Age: 16 – Manati, Puerto Rico
Jose grew up in Puerto Rico, a huge fan of the original Menudo. It has been a lifetime dream to be a member of Menudo, and he has the potential to become the lead singer. However, you need more than just talent to lead, you need respect. At times, Jose acts like he is already in the band and the other boys don’t like it. Jose will need to overcome his perceived aloof attitude and "questionable" work ethic to have a chance to make the group.

Age: 19 - Caguas, Puerto Rico
Monti, originally from Puerto Rico, is a military brat that has traveled the world. Monti’s mom is a huge Menudo fan and dreams that her son may someday follow in the legendary footsteps of past members of the group. Now Monti is faced with the challenge to live up to his mom’s expectations while also learning to live on his own for the first time. Monti hopes his "humble" approach will allow his talent to shine.
